Our Journey

DIDG was founded in 2018 when the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency identified building with customers as a critical priority.

After months of research, the Agency developed the product management role. However, it quickly learned that applying private-sector techniques to the government is easier said than done.

Recognizing the need for specialized knowledge, a group of presidential innovation fellows and private sector product experts has collaborated actively with NGA leadership for the last four years. Together, they design training courses tailored to the Agency's unique needs.

Through experience, we learned the best government courses are:

  • Short - we aim to keep every course short so students can learn new techniques quickly and immediately apply them.

  • Hands-on - our classes are 30 percent lecture and 70 percent work.

  • Experiential - students learn best when they apply techniques to their day-to-day work and get fast feedback.

  • Designed around government workflows - we know it is frustrating for students when techniques don't fit their reality. Our curriculum designers have the broad product understanding to design training around your needs.
